Ahmed Agouni, an experienced guide in Morocco

A journey to the essentials …

I was born and raised at the foot of the Atlas Mountains,
in this magnificent region of southeastern Morocco.
Throughout these years, I have wandered across my country with a heartfelt intention to seek its soul, as embodied in its landscapes and its communities.
Today my satchel is full, and I wish to share with you some of the finest treasures gathered along the way of my peregrinations.
Above all, I want to lead you to live and to feel for yourselves these encounters with an authentic Morocco, and to hear resound within them that essential something which unites us.

My selection of private tours and authentic experiences

Berber carpet weaving in the Siroua Mountains

Journey to the source of Berber carpets in the Siroua mountains

Journey into the Siroua mountains, home to one of the great centers of the Berber tradition of the Moroccan carpet. This is the land of the former tribal confederation of the Aït Ouaouzguite. In a small village nestled in the mountains, you will discover how this ancestral art of carpet weaving still lives on today — from the care given to the sheep, to the meticulous preparation of the wool, its natural dyeing, and finally the patient creation of the carpet in the skilled hands of the women. A singular experience to be lived and felt.

The oasis, fertile sanctuary of southeast Morocco

Shaped by human hands since antiquity, the oases of southeastern Morocco are sustained by ingenious irrigation systems. True fertile sanctuaries, they host a mosaic of subsistence crops, dominated by the date palm — emblematic of the region as well as of Morocco itself. The oasis has enabled human communities to prosper in the shelter of the pre-Saharan climate’s rigours, and today it offers travellers a privileged place of encounter with Morocco’s living nature and traditions.

Oasis de Fint
Vallée d'Oulina

The Ounila Valley, at the heart of southeastern Morocco’s history

The journey begins at Aït Ben Haddou, the UNESCO-listed ksar whose ochre walls and desert light were captured on canvas by Jacques Majorelle during his stays from 1919, long before the fame of his Marrakech garden. Driving through the winding valley, you follow the Ounila River, through landscapes once painted by his hand. The route leads to Telouet, former seat of the powerful Glaoua — the ‘Lords of the Atlas’ — where their fortress kasbah and still-visible salt mines recall a time of wealth and power.

Encountering the Summer Transhumance in the Siroua Mountains

Each summer, the high pastures of the Siroua mountains come alive with the rhythm of transhumance. Meet a nomadic family as they travel with their flocks of sheep and goats across this volcanic landscape. Share a moment in their camp, discover the ancestral knowledge that guides their path, and glimpse a way of life shaped by nature, resilience, and tradition.
